Made to Measure is a series of self-portraits based on the shirts and sweaters in my closet. Within the wrinkles of each garment I find memories of the past and expressions for my own particular moods and temperaments. From the calm of lounging on a Saturday afternoon to the exuberance of going on a school fieldtrip. Applying paint with a combination of oil stick and palette knife, I mismatch modernist abstraction—the line of Ellsworth Kelly and the surface of Nicolas de Staël—with the colors and cut of a Gap button-down.
